What are hyaluronic acid, saponin, and enoxolone?
Hyaluronic acid is produced by skin cells and is part of the skin’s connective tissue. One of its main functions is retaining moisture, and it can bind water 1,000-10,000 times greater than its own weight (i.e. one gram binds 1-10 litres). As skin ages, its natural ability to produce hyaluronic acid declines, and wrinkles begin to form and deepen.
Glycine Saponin is an active ingredient extracted from soybeans. It’s one of the most effective stimulators of hyaluronic acid in the cells of the skin’s dermal layer, proven to increase hyaluronic acid production at the cellular level by up to 256%.
Enoxolone, also known as glycyrrhetinic acid, is derived from the roots of Chinese licorice plants. It inhibits hyaluronidase (HYAL1), the enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, reducing the skin’s own hyaluronic acid breakdown by more than 50%.
