Description
A soft toothbrush for the care of sensitive teeth. Combined soft and extra-soft bristles prevent excessive friction on teeth. The wavy bristles effectively yet gently clean teeth. The ergonomic handle with contoured grip elements sits comfortably in the hand and is easy to use. The set also includes a clear, sturdy plastic cover for the brush head, so you can hygienically store or carry your toothbrush.
If a bite of ice cream or a sip of coffee sometimes causes tooth pain, or if brushing or flossing sometimes seems to irritate your teeth, you may have a common condition known as “tooth sensitivity”.
This can be caused, for example, by decay, a cracked tooth, worn tooth enamel, worn fillings, and exposed tooth roots due to overly vigorous brushing, receding gums or periodontitis.
The enamel layer, the strongest substance in the body, protects the crowns of healthy teeth.
A layer called cementum protects the tooth root beneath the gumline. Beneath the enamel and cementum lies dentin, a part of the tooth with lower density than enamel or cementum.
Dentin contains microscopic tubules (tiny hollow tubes or channels). When dentin loses its protective covering, heat, cold, and acidic or sticky foods affect the nerves and cells inside the tooth via these tubules. This can cause sensitivity and discomfort when chewing, drinking cold or hot beverages, and breathing through the mouth.
Proper oral hygiene is an important step in preventing tooth decay, periodontitis and pain caused by sensitive teeth. If you don’t brush your teeth properly, or brush too hard, you can damage your gums and cause your tooth roots to become exposed.
