Pierrot Chlorhexidine mouthwash is suitable for all users. Contains no alcohol,<\/strong> so it’s also suitable for children (from age 12). This refreshing peppermint mouthwash reduces tooth sensitivity, while antiseptic<\/strong> fluoride prevents tartar build-up and fights cavities. Pierrot’s chlorhexidine mouthwash helps prevent and treat gum problems and conditions such as gingivitis<\/strong> and periodontitis<\/strong>. Also works well, for example, before and after deep dental cleaning and tartar removal. Thanks to its antiseptic properties, it’s also a good option after oral surgical procedures, or for those who, due to physical or mental limitations, are unable to brush their teeth as usual.
\nThe mouthwash contains 0.12% chlorhexidine, panthenol (0.50%), allantoin (0.40%) and fluoride. Panthenol and allantoin have a restorative effect on the gums and mucous membrane, while also strengthening and softening them. This in turn helps heal mouth sores and prevents irritation and inflammation. Fluoride helps restore tooth enamel.
\nMouthwashes are typically divided into so-called cosmetic and therapeutic mouthwashes. “Cosmetic” mouthwashes only offer a temporary minty smell and taste that fade over time, and don’t treat bad breath or have any beneficial effect on the teeth. Therapeutic mouthwashes, used for treatment purposes – like Pierrot’s mouthwash – are specifically intended to prevent and relieve oral conditions. In addition to its hygienic and therapeutic effect, Pierrot mouthwash also has an instant refreshing effect, leaving the mouth with a pleasant, cooling peppermint feel and aroma.
\nWhat is gingivitis and what causes it?<\/strong>
\nGingivitis, or gum inflammation<\/strong>, is an inflammatory process in the gum surrounding a tooth. It’s caused by plaque building up along the gumline. Gingivitis generally presents with sore, red, bleeding gums. The gum may also swell, which can increase the depth of the gum pocket. Gingivitis mainly occurs in children and young people<\/strong>, alongside tooth decay, also in baby teeth, when a child’s oral hygiene is consistently poor. Gingivitis is rare in children under six, with its incidence gradually increasing afterwards until puberty. During puberty, hormonal changes in the body also affect the development of gingivitis.
\nUnlike in adults, gingivitis rarely<\/strong> progresses to periodontitis in children, although signs of inflammation can be observed in most children, and their oral hygiene is usually not good, since their tissue protection mechanisms are still well-developed.
\nWith good oral hygiene, the inflammation usually subsides within 5 days, and the gum returns to its normal shape and light pink colour.
\nWhat is periodontitis?<\/strong>
\nIf gingivitis, or gum inflammation, is left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis. Periodontitis is an inflammation that develops in the tissues surrounding the teeth, destroying the ligaments that attach the tooth to the jawbone.
\nThe main signs of periodontitis are gum redness and darkening due to inflammation, bleeding, plaque build-up, the formation of deep gum pockets, and increased tooth sensitivity.
\nWithout treatment, the disease progresses, the gumline recedes, the tooth root and neck become exposed, teeth become loose, and there is an increased likelihood of eventual tooth loss.
\nPeriodontitis is one of the main causes of tooth loss in adults.
\nTreatment is generally surgical. To avoid this, we recommend using Pierrot chlorhexidine mouthwash daily, in courses of at least a couple of weeks, to destroy bacteria in the mouth and eliminate the conditions for gingivitis to develop. Pierrot mouthwash is suitable for use from age 12.<\/strong>
